Here is another feature several other popular automotive websites have. As we are catalogers of automotive ecommerce terms 
we are calling this low footprint mode! In low footprint mode, after the user makes their selection the search box collapses into a low footprint “My Vehicle” section. There is a change button which shows the search again. This can save you as much as another 120px or so if you had a lot of drop downs! Also it is nice because the user can read their vehicle all in one line.
We have many more ideas for low footprint mode but we want to release it and get your feedback ASAP. Video demonstration follows.
